Ubuntu 7 + kernel 2.6.20: bugs!

Yesterday I downloaded the latest release of the popular Ubuntu distribution and I have 7 installed on my forklift at home (Athlon XP motherboard with VIA chipset) and everything went smoothly. I could appreciate the improvements made to this - already great - binary distribution (even if you just do not forget gentoo ..). However, this morning I brought with me in the office of the cd Ubuntu 7.04 and I tried to install it on the forklift in the office (P4 1.6 Ghz, Intel motherboard chipsets) and ... wham! I can not even get to the desktop everything is planted with a scanty error:

/bin/sh/: can't access tty; job control turned off.

In nothing are served with passage of the various tests esoteric parameters to boot. It seems that this is a bug already known to comunitàdegli developers, as can be seen from this link:
