.. There are a number of open source software for the vector that have nothing to envy the noble field of commercial packages. Among these I want to point out the excellent Inkscape now come to version 0.44.

"Among the features supported by SVG are the basic shapes, paths, text, signals, clones, transparency, transformations, gradients and groups. Inkscape also supports Creative Commons meta-data, the change on the nodes, layers, complex operations on layers, text layout and editing of SVG XML. It can import several formats like EPS, Postscript, JPEG, PNG, BMP and TIFF and exports PNG and other formats based on multiple carriers. "

Supported platforms are GNU / Linux, Mac OSX and Win32.
