The iPaq 514 is a next generation phone produced by HP. Called "Voice Messenger, this smartphone is noted for its size (107 × 49x16.3m-HxWxD) and weight (102gr.) than for features: tri-band GSM + EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11b / g, Display 2 "176 × 200 65K colors, 1.3MP camera, Windows Mobile 6, support the SIP protocol.

The configuration of the HP iPAQ 514 is fairly easy through a utility - available on CD in the package of the phone - called "HP iPAQ Setup Assistant" and the phone connected via USB cable to your PC.

Before making the appropriate configurations, I proceeded to update the firmware of the phone to the latest releases, 02/05/2000, available on the HP support site .

At this point, after configuring the Wi-Fi, we proceed to the configuration of SIP:

The top three images are represented here, the steps to activate the configuration. Image 2, in particular, depicts the sample configuration we're going to use the iPaq 514 to connect to our Asterisk server. Once you have entered all the parameters, and finished the wizard HP iPAQ Setup Assistant, the configuration will be transferred to the phone.

It is to pay attention to detail: When you attach your phone to the USB cable for PC connection, Wi-Fi smartphone is automatically disabled. After finishing the configuration, you must disconnect the USB cable from your smartphone!

The configuration file sip.conf in asterisk, is as follows:

[300]
type=friend
secret=300
qualify=yes
port=5060
nat=yes
mailbox=300@device
host=dynamic
dtmfmode=rfc2833
disallow=
dial=SIP/300
context=from-internal
canreinvite=no
callerid=device <300>
