PABX - PBX

The telephone, or in technical jargon PBX or PABX (Private Automatic Branch eXchange acronym) is a device used on farms to provide internal telephone system. Basically the two basic features of a PBX are:

  1. make the connection between two telephone terminals uniquely identified through internal numbering;
  2. allow the so-called DDI, or allow incoming calls from the public can reach one or more telephone terminals of the telephone network company.

Besides these basic functions, a PBX can provide many other functions, such as:

  • Automatic Call Distribution (ACD);
  • Intercom, ability to interconnect to the intercom system for access control and door opening;

Configurations, the telephone systems are interfaced to the public telephone line connections via analog or digital (ISDN) and can handle a variable number of lines to over a hundred.

The VoIP PBX is a natural evolution of the traditional switchboard. The spread of LANs in the enterprise and the increasing availability of broadband Internet has made possible the transmission of telephone traffic over IP networks: VoIP is in fact an acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol, Voice over IP and then.
